Hi,
I did a google search and found your blog. I have one too.
Good luck on your weight loss goal.
I have lost 70 pounds or so since I started my quest. I had the gastric bypass, as opposed to the band.
It has worked wonders and I hope to get back what I lost in energy and the will to live again.

i would think at your weight you should still lose on 1500-1700 calories.....

does the band mess up your metabolism?

hi,

i am scheduled for lap band surgery on 9/18 and found your blog. what you said below is my problem, too:

"But since one of my problems was eating when I wasn’t hungry to begin with, I feel like I’ve overcome a lot that the band can’t really help with. I don’t want to talk like I’m done, because I am by no means done. But I’ve got momentum, and a goal, and I can see it. I have no idea what it looks like (I’m approaching weights I’ve never been at in my adult life), but I can see it. I’m halfway home."

i really don't overeat just because i am hungry and i am a little worried about still overeating with the band. i don't want to, and i hope it will give me helps to do what i want to do... i seem to LIKE that stuffed feeling.

i also have lo 50 lbs. about 4 times on diets and i wonder if i have some internal red flag where i don't know how to get past that number. i always gain it right back again and then some. i hope that i don't get stuck there again, however, 50 lbs. would still be healthier than what i am now... if i could just keep it off!

i am a bundle of emotions now leading up to this surgery...

how are you doing now?

I have been drinking AchievONE protein drinks. They are about the only drink I can take. One of my good friends turned me on to them. She purchased them from http://iBariatric.com

I have been drinking them for about 2 months now. I usually drink about 2-3 per day. Sometimes i put them over ice sometimes straight from the bottle. Highly recommended!

Oh man... I've been there - I got a tad dehydrated and had to go to the hospital... somehow in a matter of a day - I gained 6 pounds... but lost them within the next few days.

It could be constipation - that causes my weight to fluctuate as well - just take it easy (I know it's horrible mentally) and watch everything you're doing - see if you find a pattern that doesn't seem right.

I think recognizing it is the first step. You've targeted the bar problem, so leave the bars at home and only take one with you. For a snack, how about something dense, i.e some fruit, a skinned apple maybe? It's hard. We know what's good for us, but it's hard to change lifetime habits. We're with ya!
